Bringing Together Organizational Resources to Create Success—How to develop a sustainable strategy, in sync with the marketplace, the economy, and the competition.
Companies have long engaged in competition in search of sustained, profitable growth. It is no longer enough to formulate a strategy, then set back and wait for the results to come in. Strategic decision making requires that you be constantly alert to emerging trends and market shifts and more importantly you need to be able to react to them, quickly and effectively. Strategic decision making is that set of managerial decisions and actions designed to generate shareholder value and contribute to the well being of current and future generations. It includes environmental scanning (both external and internal), strategy formulation (strategic decision making), strategy implementation, and evaluation and control. This seminar emphasizes the evaluation of current leadership effectiveness and vision and external opportunities and threats in light of the corporation's strengths and weaknesses to generate and implement a new or modified strategy. The emphasis is on guiding managers to implement actions that achieve competitive advantage.
A recent report validated that organizational change is difficult. Only a third of executives surveyed said that their organization had succeeded in achieving the changes they had set out to make. The survey results highlighted the power of strategic decision making. Several important tactics used by organizations that were successful include setting clear strategic aspirations, engaging the whole company in the performance, holding people accountable, communicating the need for change in a positive way, and building on success rather than merely fixing problems (McKinsey, 2008). Management teams must be permanently poised to take advantage of change and disruption and use it to their strategic advantage.
The perspective we take is from the management position in the organization focusing on:
