His speech was humorous which has attracted almost everyone at the lecture. Just follow as the title, he begin with the word----Envision, and then one by one. When he was talking about Empower, time was over. He was so detailed that he could not finish the lecture. It was pity that he hasn’t finished his lecture.
In the end, Mr. Lu drew the winner. After that all the people have left out. A successful activity has been finished.

Momochacha Gathering
Date: 15 August 2009
Time: 11.30am
Venue: momochacha (新加坡主题餐厅) 上海市黄浦区福建中路176号
Payment: AA basis
Purpose: Social networking among Singaporean in Shanghai
SSBA – SCS organized a Social Gathering on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the MomoChacha Singapore Themed Restaurant along Fuzhou Lu, Shanghai. The event aimed to provide a social gathering platform in order to foster closer ties and cooperation amongst Singaporeans in Shanghai.
Momochacha is a Malaysian operated Singapore themed restaurant situated centrally on Fuzhou lu of Puxi, Shanghai. It serves pretty authentic Singaporean hawker fare such as hor fun, laksa and char kuey, which was the reason why it was chosen. Indeed, nothing bonds Singaporeans more than authentic Singapore food.
The event was the second social gathering that the SSBA-SCS has organized and will become a monthly event where different pairs of Singaporeans will be chosen to form the organizing committee each time. Karina Lee of Conchius and Jason Ng of Optiontradingpedia.com, organizing committee of this event, passed the baton to Christopher Chen of Standard Chartered and Annie Lim of Adecco for organizing the next event through an innovative “lucky draw”.
The event saw an encouraging turnout of 39, which was much higher than the turnout during SSBA-SCS’s first social gathering at Frankie’s Place. This is testimony to the growing need for social gathering amongst Singaporeans in Shanghai as well as the growing willingness of Singaporeans to foster closer ties as a close knit Singaporean community. In fact, this “luncheon” took over 4 hours from 11am to 3pm. This was much longer than the organizing committee has expected. The gathering was full of laughter and fun which saw participants going around tables, co-mingling and sharing food, just like one family. Indeed, Singaporeans in Shanghai are a family and need to unite as one. A lucky draw was also conducted, pushing the atmosphere to a climax, where the winner, Teri Ho, walked away with a free meal and a handmade cross stitch made by Jason’s wife, Precious Yang.
Indeed, it was an event everyone walked away with something; a sense of belonging here in this foreign land.

Happy Birthday Singapore.... From Shanghai!
Around 550 Singaporeans in Shanghai celebrated National Day together at dinner bash on 8 August at the Shangri-La Pudong Hotel. Organized by the Shanghai Singapore Business Association-Singapore Club Shanghai (SSBS-SCS), the Guest of Honor was Singapore's CG Mr Yip Wei Kiat.
The year's theme " Come Together Reaching Out, reaching Up", gave cause for us to reflect on how far Singapore had come since we gained independence 44 years ago and how we have weathered all adversity and challenges. The organizing committee created an atmosphere of informal togetherness that Singaporeans enjoy. A buffet spread, a line up of performances by both professional entertainers and volunteers and of course the mandatory lucky draw was interspersed with slide shows of previous National Day celebrations.
Near to the 5 o’clock, some guests began to enter into the banquet hall. The banquet hall was decorated with flowers, and expressed its resplendence and magnificence. There were about 5 people working at the entrance. Some were responsible for the ticket checking, others were in charge of buying tickets on the spot. About 7:30, almost guests have arrived.
At 7:00 pm, National Day Dinner has begun. At the very beginning, all the people rise for the Singapore National Anthem. Though they were not in their native land, they can also enjoy their National Day, and be immersed in the happiness. After the National Anthem, the CG Yip Wei Kiat cut the cake in honor of the 44th Singapore National Day.
The guests were eating the delicious hometown food while they were appreciating the wonderful performance, such as dragon and lion dance, Kung Fu, Singing and Dancing. Some interesting games thrilled the audience. The hostess’s amusing performance caused a roar of laughter in the audience. More to the point, there were 50% people can get a kind of gift from the National Day Dinner. SSBA prepared nearly 250 presents to the guests. During the dinner, it has about 4 rounds luck draw; the presents included red wine, ice-cream coupon, cubilose, and some electronic products. The spectators received their prize actively. The top 10 prize is extremely amazing. It consisted of camera, Wii , notebook PC and so on. In the end, the consulate general Mr. Yep drew the winner who can obtain the top 1 prize----Canon Camera.

Playing badminton is a good form of exercise and many Singaporeans enjoy this sports with their family and friends in Shanghai. SSBA-SCS organizes weekly games for its members at the Oasis Riviera Club House, 883 Shui Cheng Road.
Together with the NTU Alumni, Shanghai, we organized a friendly tournament on Sat 18 July 2009 at the Tiger Tavern in Shanghai Asia Pacific Brewery factory. Most of the games were evenly matched and rather entertaining to watch. We added a special match where we selected 4 of the the best players in the Tournament to play a match of Man's Double. The audience was enthralled by the skills and stamina of the players.
After a 2-hour tournament, we started our buffet and karaoke. Some badminton enthusiasts continued to play the badminton with their new founded friends from NTU Alumni, Shanghai.

SHANGHAI SINGAPORE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION – SINGAPORE CLUB SHANGHAI
Location
Oasis Riviera, 883 ShuiCheng Road
We would like to thank everyone who helped make this charity event a great success! Through this charity fair, we raised a total of RMB 300,762.70. Funds collected have been transferred to the China Charity Federation (CCF). Work on the school rebuilding will commence on 20 May 2009 and is expected to be completed by 20 Aug 2009. SSBA-SCS will have a team to visit the new school in September 2009.
11th April 2009 turned out to be a glorious day despite the forecast of rain. By 8 AM, vendors started streaming in to stock up their booths. There were about 90 stalls in total; on sale were delicious food prepared by “tai-tais” as well as restaurant chefs, and others selling wine, coffee, jewelry, furniture, toys, used items, etc. The game booths were a hit with both the young and old.
The on-site silent auction attracted quite a bit of interest and 18 items donated by generous companies and individuals were auctioned off. A unique recipe book comprising over 50 special recipes contributed by expats staying in Shanghai was launched at the fair. The book contains recipes for beef rendang, truffles, mushroom soup, lasagne, pad thai, Indian butter chicken, kaya, chiffon cake and numerous other mouth-watering dishes.
Throughout the day, visitors to the fair were entertained by music put together by DJ Dennis, and also by various live performances by the Shanghai American Middle School Jazz Band, SMIC Private School and our very own Singaporean crooners, Willy Tan and Francis Yuen.
Besides enjoying the yummy food and fine wine, games and lots of shopping opportunities, the lucky ones also won attractive raffle prizes including a Kayumanis romantic getaway in Nanjing, an air ticket to Hongkong, an iPOD, and many more.
This charity effort would not have been possible without the support of many kind-hearted and generous individuals and companies. We would like to thank all of them, and in particular, CapitaLand, which sponsored the venue and whose technicians gave us invaluable support; Pivot Marketing which took care of event management; and Promus Printing which sponsored the printing of the recipe book. We are grateful too, to all of you who donated in kind or in cash, and those who took the time to cook for the fair, help man the stalls or contributed their secret recipes. We thank the many vendors which supported the event by setting up shops at the fair. And finally, to all of you who came to the fair, thank you for supporting the event with your presence!
