Your great support has motivated all the past and present committee members to move on. This year, we are celebrating our 21st Anniversary since our formation in 1988. On behalf of the 2009/2010 committee, we would like to thank you for supporting us through kind sponsorship, taking part in our organized events, etc. Shanghai Singapore Business Association – Singapore Club Shanghai [SSBA-SCS], a non-profit organization, has been the largest Singaporean communities in foreign city outside Singapore. This is the result of the strong support that you have given to us and we hope to continue to reach out to more Singaporeans in Shanghai. Singaporean always look out for one another and do provide a helping hand whenever needs arise. We are honored and grateful to the continuous patronage and support of the Ambassador Chin Siat Yoon and Consulate-General Yip Wei Kiat. Additionally, we have great partnership with International Enterprise Singapore [Eastern China], the Overseas Singaporean Unit, Contact Singapore, our sister Singaporean communities in China [Suzhou Singapore Club, Wuxi Singapore Club, Fujian Singapore Club, Guangzhou Singapore Club, Ningbo Singapore Club, and Sichuan Singapore Club] and Singapore Chamber of Commerce Beijing and its affiliates.

A Year of Challenge

2009 is a challenging year for the new committee because of the financial crisis. Companies are more conservative on their sponsorship budget but we are thankful that our sponsorship is going fine. We have managed to organize at least 2 events a month since we have been elected in March 2009. In addition, we have partner with our corporate members to publish job opportunities for all our members in the weekly newsletter.

Next, our IT Director is looking into ways to resolve the email problem. We will be embarking on some software to ensure all of members are able to receive the SSBA-SCS emails timely. On the membership card, we have started to courier the card and membership directory to new members. For existing members, please email to our secretary if you have not receive the membership card or your card needs to be replace.

Organizing business and social events, better communication with members and membership card are some of the goals that 2009/2010 committee would like to achieve during our term of service. We are looking forward to receiving your suggestions, and advice on changes that could provide better service to all of you.

Lastly, SSBA-SCS has raised RMB300, 762.70 from our April Spring Charity Fair led by Yue Tong Mui, our Community Director. The fund will be used to rebuild a school in China.
